"Strings and Things",
located in Almancil (Algarve, Portugal, see contact
page for details and map),and was established by professional
musician and music teacher Howard Scott Parkin back in the
year 2000. Howard has been in the music business for over
45 years, with an extensive knowledge of the music scene
and all musical instruments. He is the perfect supplier
and advisor for your musical needs.
At "Strings & Things" we strive to offer the
highest quality service where personal attention and after
service is at the top of our agenda. At "Strings &
Things" we have a saying “If we don't have it,
we can get it ! "
We are open daily (closed Sundays) from 10.00 to 19.00hrs.
Closed for lunch 13.00-14.30. If an emergency, outside these
times you need an appointment, which can be made by phone.
Are the products Guaranteed?
New Products: - 1 year against
manufacturing defects
Used Products - Our used products are re-conditioned
and tested before re-sale and we have confidence of their
reliability, however, we are unable to give these products
the same guarantee as of a new item, but we offer a 15 day
period for return should the item fail to function. Return
postage will be paid by the customer.
How can I buy your products?
You can do it online by filling in a Request
Form or buy directly from our shop in Almancil,
Algarve, Portugal.

How to place orders online
Send us an e-mail or fill out and submit the
Request Form :
- Name
- Address
- Phone contact
- Tax number (optional) (If the item is for re-sale)
- Products and quantity needed
- Type of payment you wish to use (bank transfer, cheque
py post, cash on collection)
You will receive a confirmation email with the costs of
the products plus cost of postage.
What methods of payment do you accept?
For purchases made online we accept 2 methods
of payment:
-Bank Transfer (the most secure and cheap)
-Payment on delivery (plus cost of CTT )
For purchases made in the store, we accept
cash or cheques only, (there is a Multibank machine nearby)
How long does delivery take?
Once the order is processed it will be dispatched,
generally within 24 hours of receipt of payment clearance.
How long does bank transfer take ?
A bank transfer generally takes between 24
and 48 hours.
And if I am not happy with what I bought?
The client must contact “Strings &
Things” immediately to discuss the problem, either
by e-mail or telephone.
The customer is responsible for returning the goods properly
and securely packed with the original packaging. Strings
& Things will not accept the return of any goods if
they arrive in a damaged condition due to bad packaging.
Do you accept trade-ins?
Yes, depending on the material in question
we are able to accept trade-ins, but only in person at the
store. We do not buy used items externally. We suggest that
the items be well cleaned and functional.
Do you buy used equipment?
Yes, we buy used or pre-owned equipment depending
on how well we believe it will sell., but again, only in
person at the store. You must make an appointment to arrange
this and have a clear idea on how much you would like to
receive for the goods. We suggest that the items be well
cleaned and functional.
Consignment Items
We can take in pre-owned, second-hand items
on consignment and sell on a commission basis, with an agreed
figure that you would receive upon resale. Selling of the
item is not guaranteed of course, and we reserve the right
to have the consignee collect the item should it not sell
or dispose of it after a period of time.
The consignee can also collect the item at any time should
they so wish.
We suggest that the consigned item be well cleaned and fully
functional before being brought to the store.
